Since the beginning, Okay Events has been using the Dohnate donation platform for artists. We have already written an extensive article about why donations are a must for artists. In this article we explain why we are so excited about the Dohnate donation platform.

1. Made for gigs
Every gig is different, sometimes you’re with a band, sometimes it’s a solo performance, sometimes it’s a collaboration. With Dohnate, an artist can create a separate Dohnate page (donation page) for each performance within a minute. You now know exactly how many donations you have collected for a specific performance and also know with whom it should be shared.
2. No company required
Most artists do not have a company and/or operate using their personal bank account. With Dohnate, you can simply register as an individual. Since donations do not count as income (in the Netherlands), it does not impact your personal income, allowing you to manage the accounting for yourself or multiple individuals from your personal bank account. 3. Focused on NL and BE
There are English speakers at many performances. For Dutch people, English is not a problem, but the other way around is not always the case. The Dohnate platform is therefore predominately in English and the donation payment page is in three languages, Dutch, English and French, the three most spoken languages in the Netherlands and Belgium.
4. International payment options
With a Dohnate page we can accept the three most popular online payment options in the Netherlands and Belgium, iDeal (nl), Bancontact (be) and Credit Card (international). At many events, this really makes a difference in donation proceeds.
5. Fast payout
The revenues from your Dohnate page are processed automatically. In most cases, the donations will be in your bank account within a week.
6. Our favourite, the QR poster
If you create a Dohnate page and click on “Please Share” you can immediately download a QR poster in A4 pdf format. The QR poster is a direct link to your Dohnate page and explains how you can donate in three languages. Since we put the QR poster next to our donation jar, our donations have practically tripled!
